Few days ago, my friends and I were stranded in our university due to the Movement Control Order (MCO). My friends invited me to participate in this competition: Alibaba GET Challenge. We look around and found out that the waste increased gradually during MCO especially household waste.
Waste has been a serious problem in Malaysia since long time before this. There are no signs of improvement even a lot of people is talking about waste management and recycle. Most of the waste end up in the landfills.
We decided to start a business called the "WasteMan" to solve the problem. Similar to the some of the online platforms such as Grab, Shopee and Lazada, WasteMan provides a platform for the players in waste management to improve the efficiency of waste management.
Our business has an app to connect the users (from household) and the waste management players in the market. Therfore, those who collect waste no longer need to search for waste, and those who wish to dispose their trash no longer needs to search for trash collectors. For every transaction, which we called it "trash deal", users can get some "waste points" based on the type and weight of trash disposed. The users can then use the points to redeem items from our partners.
Waste management should originate from every household.
We hope that we can use our engineering knowledge to solve the environmental problems in Malaysia.
